Gumbs Named Athlete Of The Year

BVIslander Tynelle Gumbs was named Athlete of the Year for the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Midwest Region.

Votes collected during a voting period conducted, secured Gumbs with the title.

Earlier this season, she was also named Athlete of the Year for the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Gumbs, who is a Junior at the University of Finland, continues to excel in both discuss and hammer throw.

Currently, she ranks seventh among all NCAA Division II competitors in the discus at 165'09m, and is ranked eighth nationally in the hammer throw at 194'07.
