Mrs. Cecily Malone and Mr. Edward Bannister QC, of the British Virgin Islands, were both mentioned on this year’s 2017 Queen Elizabeth II Birthday Honors List, and are set to be awarded for their indelible contributions to the Territory and the region.

The list, published on Friday, June 16, was mentioned by Governor John Duncan, during a parade and march-past held on June 17, in commemoration of the Queen's birthday.

Accordingly, Ms. Malone will receive the honor of the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), for her outstanding achievements and service to education, the community and the church in the BVI.

Ms. Malone, who is a former educator, is currently the Coordinator of Early Childhood Education.

Mr. Bannister, QC, former Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court Commercial Court Judge, will receive the honor of the Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (CMG), for his services to justice in the Eastern Caribbean.

Queen Elizabeth II produces an honors list twice every year--- on New Year’s Day and on her official birthday, to recognize people who have made achievements in public life or committed themselves to serving and helping Britain.

Over 1000 persons across Britain and their Overseas Territories were named and are due for honors.
